Welcome to A Christmas Celtic Sojourn
For 17 years, our presentation of A Christmas Celtic Sojourn has entertained and enlightened audiences throughout New England during this darkest time of the year. A magnificent lineup of musicians, singers, and dancers from around the world share Celtic, Pagan, and Christian traditions to celebrate the music of the season.
This year’s A Christmas Celtic Sojourn will be going online for performances from our partner theatres December 15th – 20th for you to enjoy with loved ones in the safety of your own homes. We hope you can join us for a time filled with poetry, sing-alongs, recipes, and our treasured Christmas Celtic ensemble.
About Our Performers
This year we are gathering veterans of shows past to bring you what promises to be a unique edition of A Christmas Celtic Sojourn.
Seamus Egan will be with us again, of course, as our Music Director and multi instrumentalist.
Maeve Gilchrist is returning with her unique blend of Celtic Harp and Piano, and also as Assistant Music Director.
Owen Marshall, Bouzouki and Harmonium.
Conor Hearn, Guitar.
Jenna Moynihan, Fiddle.
Maura Shawn Scanlin, Fiddle.
Mairi Campbell, Siobhan Miller, and Hannah Rarity will join us from Edinburgh, Scotland.
Eilis Kennedy will be with us from her family pub in Dingle, County Kerry.
Cathy Jordan will be opening the show with a beautiful song from Sligo Cathedral in the West of Ireland.
Cara Butler, our dancer for so many years, will be with us from Canada.
And Nic Gareiss, one of the most innovative dancers to join us in the past, will return from his home in Michigan.
Also, the vocal harmonies of Windborne will again enhance our special selection of Christmas songs.
And finally, Brian O’Donovan’s daughter Aoife, who was in the show twice in the early years, is a well recognized singer songwriter who won a Grammy this past year with her band I'm With Her. Aoife will be bringing us a unique arrangement of I Wonder As I Wander recorded with her husband, cellist and conductor, Eric Jacobsen.
And finally, our friend and longest running member of our musical cast, Chico Huff who couldn't make the trip from his home in Pennsylvania, but added - as always - some exquisite bass from his home studio.
